Boy Riding Sled Gets Hit by DUI Driver

Lynnwood police have reported that a 14-year-old boy on a sled was hit by a driver who was under the influence of marijuana. According to the report, the boy was sledding on a West Lynnwood street when the accident occurred.

Police say the boy was riding his sled into the intersection of 35th Avenue Southwest and Southwest 110th Street in the Arroyo Heights neighborhood. The driver entered the intersection and attempted to stop, but was unable to due to the slick road conditions.

The 20-year-old driver called 911 after the accident and the injured boy was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he received treatment for a head injury. Police say the boy is recovering from the incident.

After the accident, the driver was evaluated by police for signs of impairment. Law enforcement concluded the driver was under the influence of marijuana and booked him at the King County jail for DUI.
